Senior Account Manager / Account Director

An Account Director at Byfield is a leader at our firm.  You are responsible for managing several client relationships and our team members on these accounts.  You will represent and ensure that the team also reflects Byfield’s values, including our commitment to excellence in our client service. You will also be able to grow accounts and develop other new business streams.   Your role also includes involvement in business functions and new business.


Client Service

  • Leading 7-8 core and project client accounts day-to-day
  • Strategic direction of accounts, working with Director(s) as required
  • Ensuring delivery of services to the client across account teams
  • Managing teams of 2 -3 consultants day-to-day
  • Monitoring and maintaining client satisfaction
  • Strategic communications advice to clients
  • Senior level media relations
  • Mentoring and developing account teams
  • Following trends in legal sector and related areas, to frame client advice


  • Support to Senior Management Team; Participation in operational meetings
  • Line management of team members
  • Responsibility for specified business functions in line with experience and areas of expertise e.g. marketing, training and research projects

New Business

  •  Identify and help develop and deliver new business for Byfield
  • Development of strategies and creative ideas in support of new business
  • Networking and developing new business contacts

Skills and Experience

  • 4 – 5 years in agency or in-house
  • Experience of professional services, including ideally legal
  • Strong media relations and digital skills
  • Strong writing skills
  • Experience of new business pitching and presenting

Account Executive


Client Service

  • Taking initiative to deliver media relations and administrative support on 5 – 6 core client accounts, including:
    • Drafting activity reports, contact reports and weekly client updates
    • Preparing media cuttings/media monitoring
    • Calendar management
    • Taking responsibility for updating media lists and forward features lists
    • Preparing a strong first draft of press releases
    • Pitching for and securing media placements for clients through participating in the daily news hooks meeting and following client meetings
    • Securing steady pipelines for clients in line with their KPIs and ensuring problem areas are targeted and identified at the Monday news hooks meetings
    • Nurturing journalist relationships on behalf of clients
    • Liaison with the media, including pitching stories and commentary on behalf of clients.
    • Social media management across a number of channels, including LinkedIn and Twitter


  • Supporting the account team, including the Account Managers and Account Directors
  • Office administration
  • Taking responsibility for maintaining targets and producing weekly industry updates for the agency team

New Business/ Marketing

  • Providing support to the Senior Management Team, as required
  • Research for new business opportunities/pitches
  • Providing support on Byfield marketing initiatives, for example, events and new business mailings

Skills and Experience

  • Strong academic background and relevant PR experience
  • Excellent communications skills with attention to detail – written and oral
  • Self-motivator and able to organise workload effectively, ensuring prompt turnaround
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced agency environment, and independently within a small team
  • Interest in the legal sector is vital and regularly building on market knowledge
  • Competent IT skills are expected
