Legal sector communications specialist, Byfield, today announces the appointment of Ben Girdlestone who joins the consultancy as a director from Slaughter and May.
This is a key senior appointment, as Ben will help to further enhance Byfield’s profile for providing reputation counsel to support the brand building and business development campaigns of leading law firms, and to protect their reputations during crises and disputes.
Ben has over 20 years’ experience in legal and corporate communications, working both in-house and agency side for a number of major players within the legal and related sectors. Ben has spent the last seven years of his career as head of communications at Slaughter and May, one of the most respected legal brands globally. During his time at Slaughter and May, Ben worked closely with the leadership team and advised on a number of industry-leading firmwide and sector campaigns.
Founded in 2007 to coincide with the advent of the Legal Services Act, Byfield has worked with over 175 national, international and sector-leading law firms at both the firmwide and practice area levels. Byfield is a founding member of Mirovia, the first international alliance of specialist legal sector communications agencies who work together to provide multi-jurisdictional campaigns, or to offer on-the-ground support in one country.
At Byfield, Ben will bring to bear his keen understanding of the legal market and media landscape to offer high level strategic advice and campaign support to clients for both internal and external communications. He has particular insights into the key issues that are on the minds of law firm leaders, including ESG, attracting and retaining talent, Diversity & Inclusion and the future of work post-pandemic.
